The Silicon Realms BBS's Semi-Whenever Gaming Gathering!

Pirate Game

fantasy pirate sea-battle 'miniature wargame' in progress

So many games so little attendance… It seems this SiliCon was not well attended as the rest. More people were there to run games then to play. But again a good time was had by all.

One of the first games was a miniatures 'Pirate sea-battle on Crocidile Isile', ran by George Gardia(second from the left). The two remaining Island defenders (Von Campbell and Larry Adams) defeated the huge navy warship after losing half of the island's pirate fleet.

Magic the Gathering

A Magic: the Gathering Tournament (type 2) was ran by Andrew Martin and the winners were Brian (first place), Kent (second place) and Scott (third). Scott (seen facing in this photo) also won the Commodore 64 system that was given away.

PET Gaming

Richard playing on PETUnfortunately I was unable to get both the PETs I had intended to use for the Flash Attack tourney to cooperate (one machine refused to run the game), but I did have one machine present with two cassettes full of games known and recently discovered on the Internet for people to enjoy. My brother Richard is shown in the photo playing the original Flash Attack in 'one-player mode'.

We did get two 64s together and played a few rounds of the beta Flash Attack for the 64 (written by me and Jeff Wood) but (compared to the PET) found it needs much more refinement and speeding up.

Network Gaming

Network GamersLack of attendance (again) and hardware difficulties kept the Doom II and Duke-Nuke-Em tourneys (hosted by Andrew Martin) from happening so it was 'open season' on anyone who wished to play.

It was quite a contrast having a PET playing cassette tape BASIC programs on one side of the room while on the other there were networked Pentium systems battling it out.

So it is time again to rest a while and think on what to do for the next SiliCon…
