Wondewred what PET games actually look like? Here are some screenshots of actual PET games:

a PET Game from Japan, AFO, shoot down the flying saucer by aiming balloons under it. (really!)
Artillery (Creative Computing)
Mission: Asteroid for the PET - an almost a decent Asterod game if the rocks didn't just go diagonal.
Bets! From Cursor One of the better cartoon characitures using the PET graphics.
Bonzo! a Fun Chutes and Ladders Game, kinds silly but I like it.

WHERE CAN I BUY/FIND A PET COMPUTER?

That is a tough one, here are some suggestions

	* Word of Mouth - People know I collect old computers (from conversations, postings and this website), sonetimes I get approached and people ask if I want their old computers. Remember the axiom of not looking a gift horse in the mouth, if you have the time, accept the offer. If it is someone you know better, ask them what cmputers they have and politely refuse, but always thank them for their consideration…

HOW CAN I GET PET PROGRAMS FROM DISK TO TAPE?

Fortunately there is a wonderful file copy utility available for PET (4.0), VIC (12k+), and Commodore 64/128, called 'Unicopy'.

Unicopy (written by the famous Commodore enthusiast, Jim Butterfield) allows you to copy from disk directly to tape. This of course preserves the loading address and makes things much easier. (also it performs multiple file copies instead of just one program at a time).

The PET line was Commodore's first computer line after purchasing MOS Technologies, the primary design of the computer (as well as its microprocessor, the 6502) was by Chuck Peddle. The line was labeled in series' the first series, the 2001 series, the European 3000 series, and the modern 4000 and 8000 series, and the final single unit 9000 series which is the SuperPET. In Europe due to trademark problems with Phillips Electronics commodore had to drop the PET name early and used the CBM (Commod…

HOW DO I LOAD A PROGRAM OFF OF A TAPE?

To load a program off of the tape, all you have to do is use the LOAD command. If you use just LOAD you will load the first program the PET finds on the tape deck plugged into port #1. You can specify a file to load by entering:

WHAT KIND OF DRIVES CAN MY PET USE?

Commodore Tape Drives:

Tape Drives for the VIC, 64 and 128 work well on the PET. In fact you can hook up 2 tape drives on the PET (On non-original PETs the second connector is inside the case, on the left edge of the motherboard.) and can be accessed as device #2.

DID MICROSOFT REALLY WRITE BASIC FOR THE COMMODORE PET?

Yep. back then Microsoft's main business was BASICs and other languages for microcomputers. In the upgrade ROMs they even placed an easter egg, just enter WAIT 6502,x to see 'MICROSOFT!' displayed on the screen x number of times.
